Evelenie Kennedy, 88, of East Canton, passed away late Monday evening, May 31st, peacefully in the Aultman Hospital. She was born in Philippi on March 17, 1922, the daughter of the late Earl and Laura (Mayle) Croston. She was united in marriage to Robert Kennedy, who preceeded her in death in 1982. Mrs. Kennedy is survived by a daughter, Josephine (Robert) Newman, E. Canton; two grandsons, Michael D. (Tracy) Newman, E. Canton, Jerry (Frosty) Newman, Minerva; three great grandchildren, Corey, Vincent, and Joshua Newman; two sisters, Violine Kennedy, Moatsville, Rettie Newman, N. Canton; one brother, Amon Croston, Canton. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceeded in death by four sisters, Sygurnie Newman, Miranda Mayle, Orleans Dalton, and Isabella Newman; and three brothers, Edgar, Jethro, and Nickodemes Croston. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, June 4, from the Stemple & Forman Funeral Home, 385 So. Main Street, Philippi. The Rev. Kenneth Dalton will officate and interment will follow in the Welch Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4:00 until 9:00 P.M. on Thursday and from 9:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. on Friday.
