CAROLYN “JO” PHILLIPS Carolyn “Jo” Phillips, 66, a resident of the Barbour County Good Samaritan Center, Belington, died Tuesday, December 7, in the Davis Memorial Hospital, Elkins, following a brief illness. She was born September 17, 1944, at Philippi, a daughter of the late Cecil Wilbert Skidmore and the late Ivy Audra (Heatherly) Skidmore Jones. Surviving are two sons, Rickey Phillips and wife, Jayme and Timothy Phillips, all of Belington; one brother, Gary Skidmore and wife, Sandy, Belington; one sister, Linda Ann Hill and husband, Larry, Belington. She was also preceded in death by a twin brother, Carol Wilbert Skidmore and by her step-father, Milford Jones. Mrs. Phillips was a graduate of Belington High School. She retired as a cook for Barbour County Schools, following thirty years of service. She was a member of the Valley Bend Baptist Church and was a Life Member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Laurel Mountain Post #410, V.F. W., at Belington. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, December 10, from the Schoonover – Stemple Funeral Chapel, 609 Crim Avenue, Belington. The Rev. Arden Beck will officiate and interment will follow in the Belington Fraternal Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 3:00 until 9:00 P.M. on Thursday. The Ladies Auxiliary of Laurel Mountain Post #410, V.F.W. will conduct memorial services in the funeral home chapel at 7:00 P.M. on Thursday evening. The Schoonover – Stemple Funeral Chapel is entrusted with arrangements.
