Charles E. “Charlie” Thompson, age 66, of Volga, WV died Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at Hopemont Faith Hospital in Terra Alta, WV. He was born November 25, 1944 in Alma, WV, a son of the late Ora Lester and Edith Ash Thompson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Virginia Rice; five sisters, Loraine Mae, Barbara Ann and Avie Jean Thompson, Orpha Lynch and Amanda “Betty” Spencer. He is survived by three sisters, Dorothy Wadsworth of Jacksonburg, WV, Mary Harrison and husband Joe of Jacksonville, FL and Shirley Chapman of Volga, WV; one brother, Ora Thompson, Jr. and wife Theresa of Rupert, WV; several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. Mr. Thompson worked for Headley Sawmill and was a Methodist by faith. Graveside Services will be 2 PM Sunday, January 16, 2011 at the Victory Church Cemetery in Alma, WV. Poling-st. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
