Orvis D. Mills, age 91, of Lexington, KY died Sunday, January 16, 2011 at St. Joseph Hospital East in Lexington. He was born June 23, 1919 in Mooween, PA, a son of the late Jeral Roy and Hilda Pearl Koon Mills. On September 30, 1942 he married Verna Suillia Lake who preceded him in death on January 29, 1995. He is survived by two sons, Allen D. Mills and wife Sandra of Georgetown, KY and Gordon L. Mills and wife Susan of Peachtree City, GA; one granddaughter, Melissa Mills Speck and husband Andrew of Stanwood, WA; three grandsons, Brandon K. Mills and wife Rebecca of Indianapolis, IN, Ryan D. Mills and wife Audrey of Stanley, NC and Kerry C. Mills and wife Jessica of Greenville, GA; two great-grandsons, Tyler Speck of Stanwood and Haydon Mills of Indianapolis; two great-granddaughters, Ashlee Speck of Stanwood and Ryleigh Mills of Indianapolis; one brother, Jeral Mills of Erie, PA; two sisters, Wanda Suscheck and Nancy Levonduskie both of Erie, and three sisters in law, Betty Mills of Canton, GA, Shirley Mills and Mary Mills both of Erie. Prior to residing in Lexington, KY, he lived in Memphis, TN, Perry and Warner Robins, GA and Enon, OH. Mr. Mills attended Buckhannon High School and graduated from Webster Springs High School. He was a 50-year Mason and a member of the Houston Lodge # 35 of Perry, GA. He served in the US Army during WW II as a Warrant Officer and later on served in the Air Force Reserve as a Captain. He was a career civilian employee of the Air Force and completed over 30 years as a maintenance engineering specialist. He was a Methodist by faith. Friends will be received Friday, January 21, 2011 from 5-8 PM at the Poling-st. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 10 AM Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Michael Tallman officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Union Church Cemetery at Tallmansville, WV. Buckhannon VFW Post #3663, Frank B. Bartlett Post #7 American Legion and DAV Chapters #5 & #36 will conduct military honors at the graveside and Franklin Lodge # 7 AF & AM will conduct Masonic graveside rites. Poling-st. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
