Verna Violet Karickhoff, age 80, of Volga, WV died Friday, March 25, 2011 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV. She was born March 21, 1931 in Elkins, WV, a daughter of the late Thomas Benton and Martha Jane Prevette Powers. On November 19, 1960 she married Earl Dayton Karickhoff who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Earl Wayne Karickhoff and wife Cindy of Volga and Kenneth Mark Karickhoff and wife Sherri of Volga; one grandson, Kenneth Cole Karickhoff of Volga; one granddaughter, Karson Grace Karickhoff of Volga; one brother, Virgil Powers and wife Eula of Flemington, WV; several nieces and nephews and numerous friends and acquaintances. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Thelma Kisner and Ava Tolbert and four brothers, Jack, George, Thomas and Benton Glenn Powers. Mrs. Karickhoff was a homemaker and a Christian by faith. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She loved spending time with her family, especially loved her grandchildren with all of her heart. She had a wonderful life and leaves us with a lifetime of memories. She will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her. Friends will be received Sunday, March 27, 2011 from 5-8 PM at the Poling-st. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Jack Streets officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Zion Church Cemetery in Hodgesville, WV.
