Katheryn A. Liggett McAtee, 86, a former resident of Waneta, Webster County, and for the past thirty-eight years, a resident of Huttonsville passed from this life on Thursday, April 7, 2011 at her home at Huttonsville. She was born Thursday, August 21, 1924 at Huttonsville, a daughter of the late Austin Earl Liggett and Elva Vada Barrett Liggett. On May 3, 1945 at Buckhannon, she was married to Loy C. McAtee, who survives. They had celebrated sixty-five years of marriage. Others left to cherish Katheryn’s memories are two sons, Eugene McAtee and wife, Kandi, Paul McAtee and wife, Louise, one daughter, Mary Marcum and husband, Tim, all of Huttonsville, two sisters, Mary Belle Liggett of Huttonsville and Emily Lou Liggett of Hilo, HI, two sisters-in-law, Helena Liggett of Elkins and Nellie Liggett of Huttonsville, fourteen grandchildren, Christina M. Brady of Hampton, VA, Kasey D. Andrews of Richmond, VA, Justin C. McAtee of Huttonsville, Paul David McAtee II of Daytona Beach, FL, Neena Walls of Clarksburg, Paula A. McAtee, Michael David McAtee, Emily Louise McAtee, Robert Lee McAtee, Jr., Rodney Lynn McAtee, Bradley Shawn McAtee, Jennifer Lynn McAtee, Katheryn E. Marcum, and Teena L. Marcum, all of Huttonsville, nine great grandchildren, Grace E. Brady, Abigail E. Brady, Mark Alexander Andrews, Alexis McAtee, Sommer Jo McAtee, Landon Robert McAtee, Tyler Lynn McAtee, Noah Bradley McAtee, and Braden Carus McAtee, two daughters-in-law, Margie McAtee and Caffey McAtee, one special friend, Shirley Bosley, and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were two sons, Loy Earl McAtee and Robert Lee McAtee, Sr., one daughter, Emily Vada McAtee, two brothers, James Robert Liggett and Barrett Lee Liggett, and one sister, Pattie Jane Laderach, and two brothers-in-law, Kenneth Wadahara and Ernest Laderach. Katheryn was a graduate of Tygart Valley High School with the class of 1942, and, along with her husband, Loy, operated the Waneta Post Office, service station, and store for twenty-eight years and also owned and operated the Huttonsville Exxon for eighteen years. She was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary, Ladies Encampment Auxiliary, a Charter Member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, the Huttonsville Rebekah’s Lodge #103, Pythian Sisters, BPOE Lodge #1135, Ladies Auxiliary Patriarch Militant, and a lifelong member of the Tygart Valley Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be held at the Randolph Funeral Home and Cremation Services on Saturday from 5 until 8 PM. At 7 PM, the Huttonsville Rebekah Lodge #103 will conduct a ritualistic service. On Sunday, April 10, 2011, Katheryn will be moved to the Tygart Valley Presbyterian Church where friends may call from 1 PM until 2 PM, the funeral hour. The Reverend JoAnne Glaser and Pastor Frank Stanley will officiate and interment will follow at the Brick Church Cemetery at Huttonsville. Memorial contributions may be made to the Tygart Valley Presbyterian Church, Huttonsville, WV 26273 in Katheryn’s honor.
