Alpha Currence, 85, of Mill Creek, WV went home to be with the Lord early afternoon Friday April 1,2011 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown,WV surrounded by family. She was born Friday May 29, 1925 at Chestnut Ridge in Valley Bend, WV , a daughter of the late Jack and Maggie Pritt Martin. She attended the schools of Randolph County, WV. Alpha was a Christian by faith. One of her many hobbies was planting gardens. She enjoyed her two dogs Corky and Tiki very much. She was a truly wonderful lady who loved her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren very much. She was a very special lady who will be missed by all. She was married in 1959 to Arlie Currence who preceded her in death on Sunday January 2, 2000. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by two sisters: Orphie McGee and Millie Bailor and two brothers: John and Howard Martin. Left to cherish her memories are three daughters: Carolyn Louk, Betty Shreves, and Teresa Gum and husband Randy all of Mill Creek, WV; two sons: Ruben Currence and Roger Currence both of Mill Creek, WV; two sisters: Caroline Currence Gear and Sue Poling and husband Bob of Mill Creek, WV; three brothers: Delmer Martin and wife Virginia, Nippy Martin and Joe Martin all of Mill Creek, WV; 16 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and many friends. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday April 4, 2011 at Brick Church Cemetery in Huttonsville, WV with Kevin E. Hostetler officiating.
