Andrew Clay Long, age 83 years, a resident of Nella’s Nursing Home, passed away Sunday October 2, 2011 in the Davis Memorial Hospital. He was born July 11, 1928 at Philippi, a son of the late David Taswell Long and the late Cora Carpenter Long. Surviving are three sons, Roger Allen Long and wife Dee, Elkins, Sonny James Long and Robert Lee Long, Grafton. Four daughters, Janet Kittle and husband Larry, Belington, Susan Long, Rhode Island, Wilma Lee Griffith and husband Dewayne, Belington and Joyce Ann Shaffer and husband Tom of Elkins and five grandchildren also survive. He was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
Mr. Long was a Veteran of the United State Army. He was a truck driver in the Lumber Industry prior to his retirement.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at the American Legion’s Little Arlington Cemetery. Presentation of the American Flag will be made by members of H.W. Daniels Post 29 American Legion and interment will follow. The Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangements for Andrew Clay Long.
