Carmela “Lina” Lewis, age 83 years, a former resident of Beverly, went to Heaven on Monday, August 15, 2011 at the home of her daughter, Josephine Clark of Elkins. Mrs. Lewis had resided with her daughter for the past four years. She was born February 18, 1928 in Naples, Italy a daughter of the late Luigi and Carmela Celio. She was married to Ernest Don Lewis during World War II and had moved to America where she raised her four children. Ernest had preceded her in death April 29, 1996. Surviving is one son, Ernest D. Lewis, Jr., and wife Jeannette, of Beverly, three daughters, L. Rita Kincaid and husband Darrell, of Columbus, OH, Julia Shoffner, of Scott Depot, WV, Josephine Clark, of Elkins, one brother, Gennaro Celio and one sister Concettina Chiricelli, both of Italy.. Eight grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild, two foster sons, Wayne Varner, of Beverly, Bob Norris, of Cleveland, OH and a special friend, Julia Stevens also survive. Also preceding her in death were two grandsons, Mickey Lewis and Mark Burke. Mrs. Lewis was a seamstress having worked at Reiboard Brothers and was a member of the Randolph County Senior Center. She enjoyed crocheting and attended Mt. Carmel Baptist Church.
Friends may call from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 Noon Thursday, August 18th from the funeral home chapel with Pastor Robert Toms and Rev. Leon Brown officiating. Interment will follow in the Mount Vernon Cemetery at Beverly. The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association Northern Regional Office, 1299 Pineview Drive Suite #3, Morgantown, WV 26505 in memory of Mrs. Lewis. The Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangements for Carmela “Lina” Lewis.
