Mrs. Gloria Ellen Strawder, age 83 years, a resident of Rt. 3, Belington, the Harding Community, passed away Sunday afternoon, August 21, 2011 at her home. She was born September 26, 1927 at Ellamore, a daughter of the late Charles B. Jack and Amie V. Bennett Campbell. On May 9, 1960 at Oakland, MD, she was married to Russell Lee Strawder who survives. Also surviving is one son, Steven W. Strawder, of Junior and one daughter, Rose Ann Strawder Shreve, of Belington. One stepson, James Allen, of Texas, one goddaughter, Samantha Gibson, one brother, Robert Martin, of Parsons and four grandchildren, Jason W. Strawder, Joshua S. Strawder, Kristen N. Strawder and Kevin R. Shreve also survive.
Also preceding her in death were two brothers, Bernard and James Jack.
Mrs. Strawder was a homemaker and a member of the Kynette United Methodist Church and the Women’s Society of the church.
Friends may call from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM Tuesday, August 23, 2011 at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, August 24th from the funeral home chapel with Rev. Walter Ellison and Pastor Bryan Headley officiating. Interment will follow in the Mountain State Memorial Gardens near Gilman. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Kynette United Methodist Church, PO Box 128, Norton, WV 26285 in memory of Mrs. Strawder.
