Mr. Charles Edward “Buck” Stalnaker, age 84 years, a resident of Elkins, passed away early Saturday morning, September 3, 2011 at Colonial Place. He was born July 6, 1927 at Elkins, a son of the late Dennis P. Stalnaker and May Booth Stalnaker. On February 6, 1948 at Elkins, he was married to the former Virginia Mae White who preceded him in death June 7, 2008. He is survived by one sister, Carolyn Stalnaker Dixon and several nieces and nephews. Also preceding him in death were four brothers, Glenn, Tom, Bob, and Harold Stalnaker and one sister, Betty Stalnaker.
Mr. Stalnaker was a Veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Navy obtaining the rank of Seaman First Class. He was employed as a Carman Welder for Western Maryland Railroad prior to his retirement and was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Elkins.
Friends may call from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, September 7th from the funeral home chapel with Pastor Terry A. Burgess officiating. Interment will follow in the Bethel Cemetery at Job. Presentation of the American Flag will be made by members of H.W. Daniels Post 29 American Legion of Elkins. The Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangements for Charles Edward “Buck” Stalnaker.
