Kristin Leigh Short, age 25 years, a resident of RR 1, Elkins, the Chenoweth Creek Community, passed away Monday, July 4, 2011 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. She was born November 9, 1985, at East Ridge, Tennessee, a daughter of Kimberly Short Wolfe, of Elkins and the late Rev. Rodney L. Short. Also surviving is her maternal grandmother, Donna Shiflet of Richwood, WV and paternal grandparents Spencer and Beulah Short, of Cottle, WV. Two brothers, Joe and Jim Wolfe, of Elkins and several cousins, aunts and uncles also survive. Also preceding her in death was her maternal grandfather, Kenny Shiflet. Kristin graduated from Temple University in Chattanooga, TN and was working towards a graduate degree in counseling from Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA. She was employed at Strategic Therapy Services where she worked with troubled youth. She attended the Brentwood Church in Lynchburg, VA. She was a member of the Freedom 4/24 of the church which rescues girls from Human Trafficking.
Friends may call Thursday, July 7, 2011 at the Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins from 11:00 AM to 12:00 Noon, the funeral hour. Pastor Terry Burgess, Pastor Mark Scott and Kimberly Short Wolfe will officiate. A committal service will be held at 4:00 PM Thursday at the Mountain View Cemetery at Richwood, WV where interment will follow. Memorial contributions may be made to Freedom 4/24, C/o Brentwood Church, 1971 English Tavern Road, Lynchburg, VA 24501, The Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangements for Kristin Leigh Short.
