Mr William C. “Bill” Woods, age 66 years, a resident of Norton, passed away Monday, July 11, 2011 in the Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown following a brief illness. He was born September 28, 1944 in Elkins, a son of the late James A. Woods and the late Hazel Mae Howell Woods. On Feb. 10, 1962 he was married to the former Barbara Bodkins who survives in Norton. Also surviving are two daughters, Debbie Woods Warner and husband Bill, Elkins and Lisa Ickes and husband Dave of Belington, grandchildren, William R. “Billy” Woods, Mentor, OH, Toni Shreve, Belington, Cody Warner, Elkins, Alexis Losh, Kingwood, Lauren Ickes, Grafton and one great granddaughter, Mallorie Losh, Kingwood. Brothers and sisters surviving include James A. Woods, Jr. and wife Georgie, Cumberland, MD, Arthur “Bud” Woods and wife Lea, Elkins, Johnny Woods and wife Joann, Elkins, Dorothy Layne and husband Carl, Elkins, Mona Turner and husband Lawrence, Elyria, OH, Sylvia Judy, Elkins, Nancy Ramsey and husband Dusty, Elkins and Linda Humphreys of Elkins. Also preceding him in death was a half-brother, Woodrow “Woody” Woods and a brother-in-law, Robert Humphreys. Mr. Woods attended the schools of Randolph County and was employed as a Meat Cutter and Manager of the Meat Department at the Belington Shop and Save at the time of his death. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and woodworking and loved trains, his family and grandchildren. Friends may call from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Thursday, July 14, 2011 at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, July 15th from the funeral home chapel with Pastor Dewaine Corley officiating. Interment will follow in the Mountain State Memorial Gardens near Gilman. The Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangements for William C. “Bill” Woods.
