Clarice “June” Thomas, age 81 years, a resident of Beverly, passed away Sunday evening, May 29, 2011 in the Elkins Rehabilitation and Care Center in Elkins. She was born June 21, 1929 at Porterwood, WV. a daughter of the late Clifton Mason and Mary Elizabeth Bennett Waybright. She was formerly married to Bernard Lee Thomas in 1956 at Junior, WV. Surviving are one daughter, Vida Roy and husband Allen Dean Roy of Lost Creek, WV, one brother, Kenny Waybright, Beverly, four sisters, Kathryn Fleming, Alton, IL, Betty Ash, Howie-in-the-hills, FL, Virginia Knight, Baltimore, MD, Anna Mae George of Coalton and two grandsons, Dustin Dean Roy and Cody Allen Roy. Also preceding her in death were three brothers, Elmer Lewis Waybright, Gerald Waybright and Harold Waybright, one sister, Peggy Shaw and two sisters-in-law, Emma Waybright and Willa Waybright.
June was employed as a Health Care Worker for Companion Care. She was a member of the Tygart Valley Baptist Church at Beverly, the Women’s Society of the church and a Bible School Teacher for many years. She was a member of the Isaac Walton League. She loved babies and her grandsons, Dustin and Cody. She loved hummingbirds, gardening and her dog Jessie.
Friends may call from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Thursday, June 2, 2011 at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, June 3rd from the funeral home chapel with Pastor Jack Howell officiating. Interment will follow in the Elkins Memorial Gardens on the Country Club Road. The Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangements for Clarice “June” Thomas.
