Mary Joyce Howell, age 70 years, a resident of Beverly, passed away at 4:45 A.M. Sunday, June 5, 2011 at her residence. She was born June 18, 1940 in Pocahontas County, a daughter of the late Clyde and Mary Jane Cummins Eye. She was married to Otto Howell who preceded her in death on May 3, 2010. Surviving are two sons, Otto H. Howell, Jr. and Timothy Howell both of Beverly, two daughters, Sherry Wood and Kimberly Usher both of Beverly, two sisters, Josephine Shiflett of New Jersey and Darla Adkins of Ohio, eight grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and a special adopted granddaughter, Mary Beth Smith also survive. Also preceding her in death was one son, Jeffrey Allen Howell and a granddaughter, Lisa Marie Cutright.
Mrs. Howell was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening and hummingbirds.
Friends may call from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, June 9th from the funeral home chapel with Rev. Norma Gibson officiating. Interment will follow in the American Legion’s Little Arlington Cemetery near Elkins. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association of West Virginia, PO Box 3980, Charleston, WV 25339-3980 in memory of Mrs. Howell. The Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangements for Mary Joyce Howell.
