Allen D. Phillips, age 63 years, a resident of Elkins, passed away Monday morning, June 20, 2011 at Monongalia General Hospital in Morgantown. He was born January 22, 1948 at Elkins, the youngest of nine children to the late Chester A. Phillips and Creta E. Summerfield Phillips. He had never married. He is survived by three brothers, William Phillips and wife Glenna, of Elkins, Calvin Phillips and wife Shirley, of Huntington, and Kenneth Phillips and wife Shelia, of Elkins. Two sisters, Anna Ruth Stalnaker and husband William, of Coalton, and Wilma Miller and husband Bob, of Elkins. Several nieces and nephews also survive including a special great nephew, Nolan Miller. Also preceding him in death were two brothers, Dorman and Boyd Phillips and one sister, Clara Phillips. Mr. Phillips had worked as a detailer for Mountaineer Motors and was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Friends may call from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday from the funeral home chapel with Rev. Marvin L. Parli officiating. Interment will follow in Elkins Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church, 412 Randolph Avenue, Elkins, WV 26241 in memory of Mr. Phillips.
