Joe Martin, 77, a resident of Mill Creek, passed from this life Sunday evening, June 5, 2011 at the Hospice Inpatient Center in Elkins following an extended illness. He was born Sunday, October 8, 1933 at Chestnut Ridge, a son of the late Jack Martin and Maggie Pritt Martin. He was twice married. First, to Uneta Frances Currence, and second, to Catherine Lucille Burnside, both of which preceded him death. He was also preceded in death by four sisters, Orpha McGee, Mildred Bailor, Alpha Currence, and an infant sister, Bessie Martin, two brothers, Howard Martin and John Martin, and one granddaughter, Jenny Jeanette Cutright. Left to cherish Joe’s memory are three daughters, Hazel Louise Lloyd and husband, Denver of Mill Creek, Barbara Grey and husband, Ralph of Valley Bend, and Regina Stevens and husband, Jim of Follansbee, three sons, Denver Martin and Bradley Martin and wife, Jennifer all of Mill Creek, and William Martin and wife, Bonnie of California, two brothers, Delmar Martin and wife, Virginia and Nippy Martin, two sisters, Sue Poling and husband, Bobby and Caroline Gear all of Mill Creek, thirteen grandchildren, Ralph Grey, Jr., Jason Grey Matthew Grey, Curtis Stevens, Chad Stevens, John Stevens, Jimmy Stevens, Salena Martin, Tiana martin, Kelsey Martin, Riley Martin, Coby Louk, and Dawn Marie Martin, twenty great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Joe attended the schools of Randolph County, had worked on the railroad and for several sawmills before becoming disabled and at one time, he had held a minister’s license. He loved to whittle and spending time with his family. Visitation will be held at the Randolph Funeral Home on Wednesday from 6 until 8 PM. Funeral services will be held from the funeral home chapel on Thursday, June 9, 2011 at 1 PM. Reverend Norma Jean Gibson will officiate and interment will follow at the Martin Family Cemetery at Mill Creek.
