Daultin Argel Currence, 83, a resident of Cassity, entered into eternal rest on Thursday June 16, 2011 at Hospice Inpatient Care House in Elkins. He was born Monday, April 2, 1928, at Hemlock, WV a son of the late Wilson “Bandsaw” and Minnie Wagner Currence. On September 9, 1950 he married Freda “Kate” Pastine who survives. In 2010 the couple celebrated 60 years of life together. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Kenneth Currence and wife, Virginia ; Kevin Currence and fiancé, Bonnie Heckler of Cassity. Two daughters, Beverly Wine and Cynthia Hamrick of Cassity. Ten grandchildren, Jason Currence and wife, Danielle; Krista Currence; Charlie Wine Jr; Jeremy Hamrick and companion, Jessica McLaren; Justin Hamrick and companion, Tiffany Jordan; Alison Hamrick and companion, Chanc Swecker; Karah Currence; Khristopher Currence and companion, Amber Cross ; Keith Currence and companion, Aissa Deihl and Keian Currence. Two great-grandchildren, Layne Hamrick; Ellie Currence. One sister, Kay Hinkle and husband, Gray; Two brothers, Stanford Currence; Douglas Currence and wife, Donna; Four sister-in-laws, Mary Currence; Arba Della Currence; Joan Currence and Virginia Zirkle; One brother in-law, Paul Pastine and wife Zella, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one grandson, Kevin “Kevy” Currence II; Three brothers, Marion Currence; Donald Currence and Stanley Currence. In 1973, he became disabled and retired from the Island Creek Coal Company. Prior to being a coal miner, he worked for the Middle Fork Railroad Company and BB Hodges Logging Company. Daultin was very active in lumberjack sports. Some of his most outstanding accomplishments were in the wood chopping event and two man cross-cut sawing with his partners, Charlie Taylor and Junior Currence. He also participated in the Jack and Jill sawing with his wife. He passed the love of this sport on to his sons, and daughter Beverly. He was an avid bingo player, enjoyed gardening, hunting, was a big fan of the Pittsburg Pirates and Steelers, and sharing stories with family and friends. Daultin was a member of the Cassity United Methodist Church, and was a loving devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Visitation will be held at the Randolph Funeral Home and Cremation Services on Monday, from 5 until 8PM. Funeral services will be held from the funeral home chapel on Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at 2PM. The Reverend Stella Faye Moyer will officiate and interment will follow at the Upper Rowan Cemetery at Mabie.
