Vickie Lynn Roy Hansford, 58, a resident of Hambleton, passed from this life Monday evening, May 30, 2011 at her home surrounded by her family following an extended battle with cancer. She was born Tuesday, May 19, 1953 at Elkins, a daughter of the late Carl John Roy and Gladys Marie Lawrence Roy. On August 8, 1969 at Oakland, MD, she was married to David W. Hansford, who survives. She was a graduate of Parsons High School with the class of 1971 and had worked as a comptroller and business manager for Performance Motors for twenty years. She loved to read, work crossword puzzles, and spend time with her grandchildren. She was a member of the Mountaineer Garden Club and the Hambleton Pentecostal Church of God. Also left to cherish Vickie’s memories is one daughter, Stephanie Hansford Sanders of Oakland, MD, one son, David W. Hansford, Jr. of Charlotte, NC, two special grandsons, Tyler Sanders and Cole Sanders, two sisters, Brenda Roy Lester and husband, Aaron of Parsons and Linda Roy Kelley and husband, Jerry of San Diego, CA, five brothers, Carl “Butch” Roy and wife, Linda, Billy W. Roy, Philip Roy all of Parsons, Gary “Mike” Roy, and Robert “Tim” Roy both of Morgantown. Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 PM Thursday at the Summerfield Funeral Chapel in Parsons. On Friday, June 3, 2011, Vickie will be moved to the Hambleton Pentecostal Church of God where friends may call from 10 AM until 11AM, the funeral hour. The Reverend Josh Pennington, the Reverend Eric Pennington, and Pastor J.R. Mayle will officiate and interment will follow at the Mountain State Memorial Gardens at Gilman.
