Bessie Sharlene Carr, 89, a former resident of Tucker County and for the past seven years a resident of Elkins passed from this life early Monday morning, October 31, 2011 at the Elkins Rehabilitation and Care Center. She had been in failing health. She was born Tuesday, May 2, 1922 at North Pitcher, NY a daughter of the late Hisle Carr LeMaster. She was married to Olie ‘Pud’ Carr, who preceded her in death along with a half sister and a half brother. Surviving Bessie are two sons, F. Michael “Mike” Carr and fiance, Elaine and Joseph B. Carr and wife, Brenda, all of Elkins, one granddaughter, Sherri L. (Carr) Kerr and husband, Adam of Elkins, one grandson, Brandin F. Carr and fiance, Stephanie of Haverty Grace, MD, one great granddaughter, MaKayla Ann Kerr and one great grandson, Zane Mitchell Forrest Carr, and one sister, Virginia Flanagan of Davis. Bessie attended the schools of Tucker County, had worked at Cooper’s Restaurant in Davis and retired from Blackwater Falls State Park. She was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles at Davis. She was loved by her family and many friends, and she will be greatly missed by all. Bessie’s request for cremation was honored. A private service will be held at a later date.
