Richard Dale “Dick” Kresge, 72, a resident of Fork Mountain, Parsons, passed from this life early Tuesday morning, November 8, 2011 at his home surrounded by his family.

Dick was born Monday, September 25, 1939 at Noxen, PA, a son of the late Harry A. Kresge Sr. and Frances D. Kresge.

On September 2, 1975 at Oakland, MD, he was married to the former Sandra Kay White who survives.

They had celebrated 36 years of marriage.

Surviving are four sons, Richard D. Kresge Jr. and wife Scarlet of Gordonsville, VA, Stephen “Scott” Kresge and wife Michele of Stuart Draft, VA, Daniel R. Kresge and wife Amber of Christianburg, VA, and Harper T. Kresge of Parsons, WV; one brother, Harry A. Kresge Jr. and wife Martha of Folsom, CA; two sisters, Peggy K. Flanagan of Louisa, VA, and Donna K. Shepherd and husband Joseph of Hambleton, WV; three grandchildren, Robin Kresge of Stuart Draft, VA, Samantha and Nathaniel Kresge of Christianburg, VA; one sister-in-law, Anita Kresge of Dunbar, WI and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one son, John Randell Kresge, one brother, Harold Kresge, one sister, Joan Kresge, and one brother-in-law Harper Flanagan.

Dick worked for Marshall Erdman for several years as superintendent until his retirement in October 2001.

He was well known for his drywall finishing in Tucker County. At the time of his death, he was employed by the Mountain Valley Bank.

Dick was a graduate of Parsons High School with the Class of 1957.

He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in Verdun, France. Dick’s request for cremation was honored.

Private graveside memorial services will be held at the Parsons City Cemetery on Saturday, November 19, 2011 at 2PM. T

he Reverend Pat Cassidy will officiate and interment will follow.
