Martha Avenelle White Fincham 1926-2011 Obituary
Martha Avenelle White Fincham, age 84 years, a resident of Elkins, passed away early Tuesday morning, April 19, 2011 at the home of her daughter, Sheila Johnson following an extended illness.
She was born December 4, 1926 at Wymer, a daughter of the late Amos and Texie Anna White.
On September 20, 1945 in Elkins she was married to Thurman L. “Jim” Fincham who preceded her in death on April 30, 2002.
Surviving are three sons, Willard Keith Fincham and wife Sharon, Elkins , Doyle Mitchell Fincham, Summit Point, WV and David Lantz Fincham and wife Deborah, Beverly. Two daughters, Sheila Kathryn Johnson and husband Joe, Elkins, and Shelley Denise Hyre and husband Dr. Craig Hyre of Elkins. Three sisters, Lucy Lantz, Violet Louise Clayton and Betty Paugh all of Elkins, twelve grandchildren and ten great grandchildren also survive.
Also preceding her in death were one son, Larry D. Fincham, one daughter-in-law, Cindy Sue Moore Fincham, six brothers, two sisters and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Fincham was employed in Food Service for many years and retired from Davis Memorial Hospital Cafeteria. She was a member of the Elkins Church of the Brethren, a former member of the Board of the Church of the Brethren and had received recognition multiple times as a Food Service Employee.
Friends may call from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Thursday, April 21, 2011 at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins.
A Funeral service will be held at 1:30 PM Friday, April 22nd from the funeral home chapel with Rev. Barry Moll officiating.
Interment will follow in the Mountain State Memorial Gardens near Gilman. Memorial contributions may be made to the Elkins Church of the Brethren Love in Action Fund, c/o Nancy Thompson, 313 Scott Ford Road, Elkins, WV 26241 in memory of Mrs. Fincham.
