Mr. Bobby Blair Vance, age 77 years, a resident of Whitmer, passed away early Tuesday morning, May 3, 2011 in Nella’s Nursing Home. He was born, June 28, 1933 at Whitmer, a son of the late Ergle Vance and Avis Mallow Vance Mullenax. On September 15, 1988 at Oakland, MD he was married to Ruby Bennett who survives. Also surviving are three sons, Bob Vance, of Harman, Steve Teasley, of Nashville, TN and David Vance, of Texas and one half brother, Bunny Vance of Durbin. Also surviving are five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and two special nephews, Dakota Petrice and Julius Nicholas and two special nieces, Cindy Phillips and Linzey Nicholas. Also preceding him in death was one brother, Eldon Vance. Mr. Vance was a retired painter and he and his wife co-owned Ruby’s Bait and Tackle at Whitmer. He was a Veteran of the United States Army and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of Harman and H.W. Daniels Post 29 American Legion of Elkins. He was also a member of the Job Church of God.
Friends may call from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Thursday, May 5, 2011 at the Job Church of God. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, May 6th, from the Job Church of God with Pastor Todd Rhodes and Rev. Eli Hostetler officiating. Interment will follow in the Laurel Hills Cemetery at Whitmer where the presentation of the American Flag will be made by members of HW Daniels Post 29 American Legion.
