Wilma L. “Billie” Jack Holmes, passed away Saturday, May 7, 2011 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown as a result of complications following surgery. She was born March 26, 1933 at Elkins, a daughter of the late Glen Hall Jack and Catherine Bruce Jack. On March 5, 1982, she was united in marriage to her second husband, John Holmes who survives in Belington. She is also survived by one brother, Sonny Jack of Coalton, five sons, Phillip Eugene Daniels and wife Rose of Ohio, Leon Harvey Daniels of Elberton, GA, Louis Henry Daniels, Cape Coral, FL and Kent Mark Daniels and wife Chris of Parsons. Three daughters, Paula White and husband Jim, Elkins, Chiquita Sawyer and Robin Borden both of Fort Myers FL. Fourteen grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, four step grandchildren and five step great grandchildren also survive.
Billie was a graduate of Elkins High School with the class of 1951. She moved to Florida in 1974 and lived for many years in Fort Myers. She returned to Elkins five years ago where she made her home. She was a homemaker for most of her life. She was known to be a hard worker who loved to bake and she sold cakes while living in Florida. Billie had a love for animals as was evident by the many pets she cared for during her life.
Friends may call from 11:00 A.M. until 12:00 noon, Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon Wednesday from the funeral home chapel with Rev. Dr. Basil A. Hensley officiating. Interment will follow in the Mount Vernon Cemetery near Beverly. The Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangements for Wilma Lee “Billie” Jack Holmes.
