Mr. Achie Thompson, age 83 years, a resident of Bowden, passed away Thursday, May 12, 2011 in the Monongalia General Hospital in Morgantown, WV. He was born September 10, 1927 in Onego, WV a son of the late Amby and Delphia Payne Thompson. On September 10, 1957 at the Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church in Elkins, he was married to Gladys T. Lambert who survives. Also surviving is one brother, Jerlo Thompson and wife Helen, of Mouth of Seneca. Also preceding him in death were four sisters, Rissie Biller, Lily Elza, Mary Thompson, Peachie Sponaugle and three brothers, Dewey, Hughie and Trummie Thompson. Mr. Thompson worked as a foreman for the WV Department of Highways having worked at Harman and retiring in 1991.
Friends may call from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Saturday, May 14, 2011 at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, May 15th from the funeral home chapel with Rev. Boyd Wyatt officiating. Interment will follow in the Mountain State Memorial Gardens at Gilman. The Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangements for Mr. Achie Thompson.
