Mr. Gerald Edward Lane, age 85 years, a resident of Elkins and a patient in Nella’s Nursing Home, passed away Saturday, February 12, 2011 in the Hospice Care Regional Inpatient Center in Elkins. He was born September 26, 1925 at Widen, WV, a son of the late Homer B. Lane and the late Vannie Bell Canfield Lane. Surviving are two brothers, Harold L. Lane, Huntsville, Alabama and Richard Lane of Vincent, Ohio. Four sisters, Athlea Lane and Alene Paul both of Clemmons, North Carolina., Sharon Poe, Billings, Montana and Carol Jackson of Elkins also survive. Also preceding him in death was one brother, Homer B. Lane, Jr.
Mr. Lane was a Veteran of World War II serving in the United States Army. He was employed as a Telephone Electrician for Western Electric in Denver, Colorado for many years prior to his retirement.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting and dog racing.
Mr. Lane’s remains will be cremated. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Care Corporation, PO Box 760, Arthurdale, WV 26520 in memory of Mr. Lane. The Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangements for Mr. Gerald Edward Lane.
