Delmas Lee Auvil, age 64 years, a resident of Elkins and a patient in Nella’s Incorporated at Crystal Springs for the past year, passed away at 7:55 PM Thursday, February 24, 2011 in the Davis Memorial Hospital following a long illness. He was born October 29, 1946 at St. George, Tucker County, a son of Edna Grace Moore Auvil of Elkins and the late John Harvey Auvil. In addition to his mother, Edna G. Auvil he is also survived by a son, Jeff Auvil and wife Carla, of Montrose and two grandsons, Dalton and Seth. Three sisters, Sandra Crow and husband Jerry, of WI, Judy Phillips and husband Harold, of Parsons and Vonda “Bonnie” Minear and husband William P. Minear, Jr., of Elkins. Two nieces, Melissa Minear and Debbie Phillips. Mr. Auvil worked for the Tannery at Parsons, General Motors, in Ohio, Kingsford Plant, in Parsons and was a Veteran having served in the Marines where he was stationed in Japan for thirteen months.
Friends may call from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Monday, February 28, 2011 at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, March 1st, 2011 from the funeral home chapel with Rev. Bill Calhoun officiating. Interment will follow in the Mountain State Memorial Gardens near Gilman. Presentation of the American Flag will be made by members of H.W. Daniels Post 29 American Legion. Memorial contributions may be made to the Woodford Memorial United Methodist Church, 113 First Street, Elkins, WV 26241 or Rivers of Living Water Ministries, 2 Lincoln Avenue, Elkins, WV 26241 in memory of Mr. Auvil.
