ILDA G. REED WOLFORD 1924-2011 Obituary
PASTOR ILDA G. REED WOLFORD, age 87 years, a former resident of Whitmer, WV and more recently a resident of Canaan Valley, WV, where she made her home with her sister, Freda Ratliff, departed this life Wednesday evening, November 2, 2011 at her home.
She was born Thursday, June 12, 1924 at Onego, Pendleton County, WV a daughter of the late Harrison and Flodia Mallow Reed. On September 1, 1945 at Cumberland, MD, she was married to Arthur Stewart Wolford, who preceded her in death July 14, 1998. Surviving are two brothers, Donald Reed and Alice, Uniontown, OH; Robert Reed and wife Rachel, Whitmer; two sisters, Freda Ratliff and husband Carney, Canaan Valley; Nora Sites and husband Jearl, Harman; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death are two brothers, Clyde Reed, Charles Golden Reed; and five sisters, Eva White; Olive Bennett; Sylvia Teter; Blanche Verda Baker; and Mary Dolly.
She attended the Whitmer School, was a homemaker, and a minister for forty-two years. She was instrumental in the creation of the United Pentecostal Church at Whitmer. She was a noted cook, and was an accomplished piano, organ and accordion player. She loved to hunt, fish and camp.
The family will receive friends at the United Pentecostal Church at Whitmer from 5 to 8 PM, Saturday. Final Rites will be conducted at the church, Sunday, November 6, 2011 at 1:30 PM. Pastor Claude Chaney will officiate and interment will follow at the Laurel Hill Cemetery at Whitmer, WV. The family suggests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of contributions to the United Pentecostal Church, Whitmer, WV 26296.
