WILLIAM LEE SIMPSON, age 73 years, a former resident of Hambleton, WV and more recently a resident of Riverbend Estates, Holly Meadows Community, Parsons, WV departed this life Saturday evening, November 19, 2011 at Parsons, WV.
He was born Friday, February 25, 1938 at Rowlesburg, WV, a son of the late Guy O. and Margie Stull Simpson. On July 24, 1958 at Oakland, Md., he was married to the former Dorothy Jean White, who survives.
Also surviving are three sons, David William Simpson and wife Elke of Sugar Lands, Thomas Lee Simpson and wife Nancy of Clover Run, and Michael Allen Simpson of Hambleton; one daughter, Diana Jean Eye and husband Steve of Holly Meadows; one brother, Glen Simpson and wife Mary Ann of Parsons; eight grandchildren, one step granddaughter and three great grandchildren.
Preceding him in death is one brother, Leonard Gene Simpson.
He attended the schools at Rowlesburgh, WV. He was a former employee for Gordan Lambert, where he worked as a woodsman. He was a former employee of the Kingsford Charcoal Company and All Brothers Construction Co. He was a Supervisor for North Central Community Action, where he retired in 2008. He was a member of the Pentecostal Church of God at Hambleton. Mr. Simpson enjoyed working with cows and making hay in the Holly Meadows Community. He loved to fish, hunt and he loved his church.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Tuesday from 5 to 8 PM. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home parlor on Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at 1:30 PM. Pastor J.R. Mayle will officiate and interment will follow at the Parsons City Cemetery at Parsons.
