WESLEY HERMAN “WES” MILLER, age 72 years, a resident of the Glenmore Community, Elkins, WV departed this life Thursday afternoon, December 1, 2011 at the Elkins Rehabilitation and Care Center.
He was born Friday, February 10, 1939 at Dodgeville, WI a son of the late Willis H. and Pauline Baird Miller. He was thrice married. First, to Marlene Howell Allen, who survives at Richmond, VA. Second, to Nancy Marshall Miller, who survives at San Rafael, CA; Third, on September 15, 1995 at LaCrosse, VA he was married to the former Nancy Louise Butcher, who survives at Elkins. Also surviving are two sons, Carl Wesley Miller and wife Marci, Richmond, VA; Brandyn Scott Miller and wife Genie, Sneads Ferry, NC; three step children; Mark Howell; NC; Stacy Wilson and husband Phillip; Hilary Howell, all of Elkins; two sisters, Ruth Baum, Louisville, OH; Esther Miller, Clinton, TN; nine grandchildren; Hallie Miller; Rory Miller; Scott Miller, Kolyn Miller; Alexandra Howell; Shelby Howell; Alyssa Fehrenbach; Zachary Fehrenbach; Tyler Fehrenbach; and one great granddaughter, Addison Fehrenbach.
Preceding him in death are one son, Aaron Troy Miller; three brothers, Douglas L.; David Paul; and Joseph D. Miller and one sister, Constance “Connie” Murray.
He attended Newport News High School at Newport News, VA and graduated with the Class of 1957 from the Academy of Eastern Pilgrim College at Allentown, PA. He attended and was a music major at Eastern Pilgrim College. He was a dietary director for various hospitals and was a photographer for Olan Mills, Inc. He was a Methodist by faith, had a love for music, and was an avid collector of pipes and trains. He was a participant of the Dr. Dean Ornish program for the reversal of heart disease and due to his great success had been written about in Forbes Magazine. He then served as a group program leader for the self-directed wellness program at the United Hospital Center at Clarksburg and had been honored with the publishing of a cookbook.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins from 5 to 8 PM, Sunday. Final Rites will be conducted at the funeral home chapel, Monday, December 5, 2011 at 11 AM. The Rev. Dr. Basil A. Hensley will officiate and interment will follow at the Mt. Vernon Cemetery at Beverly, WV.
