ERMALEA FILLER MAUZY, age 86 years, a resident of Parsons, WV departed this life late Sunday evening, December 11, 2011 at the Ruby Memorial Hospital at Morgantown, WV.
She was born Saturday, June 6, 1925 at Parsons, WV a daughter of the late Percy Falk and Edna Dove Stokes Filler. On June 27, 1955 at Oakland, MD, she was married to John Carl Mauzy, who survives. They had celebrated fifty six years of marriage.
Also surviving are one brother, John Edward Filler and wife Viola of Parsons; two sisters, Margaret Marie Harlow and Mildred Virginia Hebb, both of Parsons; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death are two brothers, Percy Junior “Bud” Filler and Charles Pete Filler; and two sisters, Alice Mae Collette and Edna “June” Felton.
She was a graduate of Parsons High School with the Class of 1943. She attended West Virginia Wesleyan College and was a graduate of St. Mary’s School of Nursing in Clarksburg. She was a registered nurse for the former Tucker Co. Hospital at Parsons, the former Golden Clinic and Davis Memorial Hospital, both of Elkins, the former Dorman Mills and the former Parsons Footwear. “Erm” loved the outdoors, mowing the grass, gardening and flowers. She was an avid reader, and liked to sew and crochet.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Thursday from 5 to 8 PM. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home parlor on Friday, December 16, 2011 at 1 PM. Pastor Allen D. Crosten will officiate and interment will follow at the Parsons City Cemetery at Parsons, WV.
