Laura T. Fowler (born Twana Rae Robinson)

FAIRLAWN, OHIO— On Friday, April 22, 2011, Laura T. Fowler, 72, following a courageous nine year battle with lung cancer, passed away at home with family members by her side.

She was born in Buckhannon, WV on October 24, 1938, she graduated from Buckhannon-upshur High School and then from West Virginia Wesleyan College. Following college graduation she accepted a position with the Akron, Ohio Public Schools as an English teacher. Laura taught English and other subjects there for 15 years, leaving only after she applied for, and was awarded a two-year fellowship by Kent State University that allowed her to obtain a Masters Degree in English. And, in turn, the Masters degree gave her credential to be employed as an adjunct professor at Kent State University (and then the University of Akron) teaching courses in English composition and grammar. Laura loved many things, first her family; Grandchildren, brothers, nephews, nieces, aunts uncles; Gourmet cooking (she compiled “new recipes” by researching her 98 plus cookbooks); Reading historical novels, “Who-done-its” and the biographies of famous chefs. And finally, on the national level, following, Democratic party politics; (She never failed to mention, over-and-over, that during college she was a volunteer in John F. Kennedy’s campaign). Already, she is sorely missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Maynard and Elizabeth Robinson of Buckhannon and her former husband, Michael George. She is survived by her loving husband of 35 years, Robert Fowler of Fairlawn, OH; her son and daughter-in-law, Ted and Nancy George of Dover, Ohio and her grandchildren Alexandria and Lili George also of Dover, Ohio; her brother and his wife, Larry and Nancy Robinson of Akron, Ohio; brothers Gary Robinson and wife Barbara and Dr. Kenneth Robinson and wife Carolyn both of Buckhannon; her Aunt and Uncle, Hilda and Alex More of Canal Fulton, Ohio; her niece Beth Chidister and husband Tim Chidister of Buckhannon, and her nephews, David Robinson of Buckhannon, and Kenneth Paul Robinson, II and his wife Jade and their son, Kenneth Paul III of Des Moines, Iowa as well as other nieces and nephews.
