Ronald Douglas Ron Markley 1943-2013 Obituary
Ronald Douglas “Ron” Markley, 69, went to be with the Lord late Saturday evening, February 9, 2013 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown. He had been in failing health but death was sudden and unexpected. Ron was born Tuesday, November 23, 1943, in Elkins, a son of the late Cecil Gilbert Markley and Belva Myrtle Boyles Markley. On August 6, 1966, he married the former Eva Louise Smith who survives in Mabie. They enjoyed forty six years of marriage. Also left to cherish his memory are two children: Jonathan M. Markley of Mabie, and Rita L. Johnson and husband Todd of Chesapeake, VA, two grandchildren: Travis Michael Ramsey and Jordan Brice Findley both of Chesapeake VA, one sister: Kathleen Hope “Kitty” Rowan and husband Darrell “Buck” of Elkins and several nieces and nephews. Preceding Ron in death besides his parents were two brothers: Dale and Cecil Eldon “Buster” Markley, one sister: Gretha Faith Moran, one half brother: Alfred Clayton “Fritz” Phillips and one half sister: Dorothy June Lambert. Ron was a Methodist by faith. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. Ron worked as a coal miner locally for many years. He will be greatly missed by his family, pets and his flea market friends. Mr. Markley’s request for cremation will be honored and a private memorial service will be held at a later date.
