Betty Jo Smith Rohr, 86, a resident of Elkins, passed from this life Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at Colonial Place in Elkins. Lived in Elkins and Clarksburg for most of her life. Betty was married to Harold “Red” Rohr for 46 years. Both Betty and Red were extremely generous and kind to family, friends, and strangers. They were known for their famous Easter Egg Hunts and generous Christmas gifts. Betty worked for Meadow Gold Dairy for 50 years in the finance department. After her retirement from the dairy, she served over 22,000 hours as volunteer with Davis Memorial Hospital from 1996 to 2013. Betty was also a past- President of the Davis Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. Betty delighted both young and old with her gifts of homemade fudge and candy – – often sharing fudge with local residents and supporting fundraising efforts. Survivors include her brother, Claude M. Smith of Caldwell, Idaho, her sister, Virginia S. Holborow of Kensington, Maryland, four nieces, and many great nieces and nephews and great-grand nieces and nephews as well as many dear friends. A Memorial Service will be held at Davis & Elkins College Chapel on Saturday, July 27th at 2:30 pm. Her final resting place will be alongside Harold “Red” Rohr at Arlington National Cemetery.
