David Eugene Screech Skidmore 1938-2013 Obituary
David Eugene “Screech” Skidmore, 74, a resident of Elkins, passed from this life Friday evening, July 26, 2013, at the Hospice Regional Inpatient Center in Elkins. David was born Wednesday, December 21, 1938 at Owings, a son of the late David Ray Skidmore and Edith Marie Hughes Skidmore. On May 26, 1961 in Randolph County, he was married to the former Janet Rae Shelton, who survives. Also left to cherish David’s memory are two daughters, Terri Shields and husband, David and Donna Koontz and husband, Wilbur “Billy”, two sons, David Skidmore and wife, Karen and Brian Skidmore and wife, Kristie, all of Elkins, six grandchildren, Brooke Shields, Elliott Shields, Ethan Shields, Tara Koontz, Zachary Koontz, and Ashley Ryan and husband, Matthew, three great grandchildren, Dominic Koontz, Gunner Ryan, and Paisley Ryan, three sisters, Geraldine Davis, Marie Sasada, and Sandra Karlen and husband, Glen, two brothers, Ronnie Skidmore and wife, Ginny and Jack Skidmore and wife, Linda, a sister-in-law, Pat Skidmore, and several nieces and nephews. Preceding David in death was one brother, Dale Skidmore and two brothers-in-law, Delbert Davis and Frank Sasada. David attended the schools of Randolph County, and worked for the WV Department of Highways having been promoted to Bridge Crew Supervisor before an accident left him disabled. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. Over the last several years, he enjoyed playing cards and attending rifle rallies with family and friends. David’s request for cremation was honored. A private family service will be held at a later date.
