Willard Thompson Jr., 76, a resident of Huttonsville went to be with the Lord on July 14, 2013. He was born Monday, August 31, 1936, in Cumberland, KY, the son of the Late Willard Thompson, Sr. and Edna Mae Brown Thompson. He is survived by his loving wife Joyce Helen Finkle Thompson with whom he would have celebrated his Sixtieth Wedding Anniversary this September. Also surviving are five daughters, Debbie Gladwell and husband Kenney of Huttonsville, Christine Taylor of Huttonsville, Cindy Hulver of Beverly and former husband David Hulver, Linda Shifflett and husband Ritchie of Huttonsville, and Susie Thompson of Huttonsville, eleven grandchildren, Kevin and Eric Gladwell, Courtney Felton and husband Scott, Ashleigh Tenney and husband Tristan, Kristen Taylor, David Hulver II and former wife Sherri, Bryan Hulver and wife Tessa, Hillary Hulver, Josh Shifflett, Stacey Shreve and husband Matt, Jackie Shifflett and companion Thomas Wratchford, fourteen great grandchildren Adley and Zebulun Felton, Cathrynne Rose, Benjamin, Emilia, and Levi Tenney, Anna, Nathaniel, Wyatt, Devin and Hunter Hulver, Logan and E.J. Shreve and Jaxon Wratchford, two brothers Jeff Thompson and wife Sharon Thompson of Sidney, NY and Johnny Thompson and former wife Janice of Zebulon, North Carolina, a sister-in-law, Florence Thompson, and a special friend of the family Lisa Knutti. Willard was proceeded in death by infant twin brothers, Wayne and Blaine, infant brother Adien Joab, brothers Thomas Thompson, Dennis Thompson, Charlie Thompson, sisters Jessie Lisanick, and Bettie Jean Thompson, one son in law Rodney Taylor and infant granddaughter Jennifer Gladwell. Willard attended the schools of North Carolina, and had worked road construction most of his life. He came to West Virginia in 1970 and worked as construction superintendent of blasting and drilling for several companies including Savin Brothers, SS Joe Burford, and Black Rock Construction. He was especially proud of his work on the foundation of the World Trade Center. Junior, as he was often referred to was a loving and well loved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and uncle who enjoyed fishing and camping and was a member of Valley Independent Baptist Church. Visitation will be held at the Randolph Funeral Home on Wednesday from 6 until 8 PM. On Thursday, July 18, 2013, Mr. Thompson will be moved to the Valley Independent Baptist Church where friends may call from 12 noon until 1PM, the funeral hour. Pastor Frank Stanley and Rev. Tristan Tenney will officiate and interment will follow at the Brick Church Cemetery.
