Roy Vernon Wamsley, 77, a resident of Valley Bend, passed from this life Monday, December 16, 2013 at the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center in Clarksburg. Roy was born Wednesday, July 15, 1936 in Mill Creek, a son of the late Estal Shiflett and Edna Scott Shiflett. At a young age, Roy was adopted by the late Floyd and Virginia Wamsley due to the death of his mother. Left to cherish Roy’s memory are six children, Aline Matthews and husband Richard, Roy Wamsley and wife Tony, Albert Lewis Wamsley and wife Sharron all of Baltimore, MD, Troy Wamsley and fiancée Jessica Anderson of Armburst, PA, Jessica Wamsley of Brownsville, PA and Jesse Wamsley and fiancée Tina Callahan of Belle Vernon, PA, one sister, Josephine Taylor of Mill Creek, one half brother, Samuel Tenney Jr. and wife Delores of Warren, OH, twenty one grandchildren, one great granddaughter and several nieces and nephews. Preceding Roy in death besides his parents was one sister, Goldie Shiflett. Roy attended school and graduated high school in Maryland. He worked as a jewelry salesman and later as a self employed contractor. Roy served eight years in the US Navy from 1954-1962. Roy loved to go camping with his special sister Jo Taylor, play chess and liked to travel. He always enjoyed helping others. Visitation will be held at the Randolph Funeral Home on Thursday, December 19, 2013 from 11AM until 1PM, the funeral hour. The Reverend Frank Stanley will officiate and interment will follow at the Mill Creek Cemetery where members of the HW Daniels Post #29, American Legion, the Tygart Valley Post #3647 and Veterans of Foreign Wars will conduct full military honors.
