Glenn William “Benny” Kyle, Jr., 73, a resident of Huttonsville, passed from this life early Sunday morning, January 19, 2014 at Davis Memorial Hospital in Elkins. Benny was born Tuesday, December 10, 1940 in Huttonsville, a son of the late Glenn William Kyle, Sr. and Blanche Edith Gear Kyle. On February 9, 1959 in Elkins, he married the former Patricia Ann Channell, who survives. They had celebrated fifty-four years of marriage. Others left to cherish Benny’s memory are his four children, Cynthia Ann Gear and husband, Phil, Norvel William “Barney” Kyle and wife, Sonya, Christopher Edward Kyle and wife, Jennifer and Crystal Dawn Scott, all of Huttonsville, his three siblings, Eddie Brooks Kyle and wife, Barbara, Robert Neal “Bobby” Kyle and wife Sandy, and Patricia Sue Ware and husband, Harold, all of Mill Creek, four grandchildren, James William Kyle and wife, Eloise of Huttonsville, Derrick Alan Gear and fiancé, Amber, of Elkins, Glenn Andrew Kyle and wife, Kasey, of Mill Creek, and Amanda Dawn Kyle and fiancé, Shawn Watson of Elkins, six great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Benny attended the schools of Randolph County and had worked for Huttonsville Correctional Center for twenty-four years and in the K-9 office for nine years. He had worked many other jobs over the years which included several area funeral homes, having last served with the Randolph Funeral Home. While Benny enjoyed his work with the funeral homes, he really enjoyed his volunteer work which included thirty-four years with the Mill Creek Huttonsville V.F.D where he had also served two years as fire chief. He also was instrumental in starting the Mill Creek location for the Randolph County E.M.S., and he enjoyed refereeing and umpiring little league games as well as middle school games throughout the area. He was an avid WVU, Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers fan and had enjoyed hunting, and singing gospel music. He was a member of the Mill Creek Memorial Mission Church. He loved life and his family, and was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who will be greatly missed. Visitation will be held at the Randolph Funeral Home on Wednesday from 6PM until 8PM. On Thursday, January 23, 2014, Benny will be moved to the Mill Creek Memorial Mission Church where friends will be received from 10AM until 11AM, the funeral hour. Rev. Tristan Tenney and Rev. Harold Swecker will officiate and interment will follow at the Brick Church Cemetery.
