Juanita Mae Stewart Smith , 83, a resident of Elkins, passed from this life early Saturday morning, March 15, 2014 at home surrounded by family. Juanita was born Monday, December 15, 1930 in Elkins, a daughter of the late Sampson R. Stewart and Edna Mary Isner Stewart. On April 30, 1949, in Elkins, she married Owen William Smith who preceded her in death in 1999. Left to cherish Juanita’s memory are six children Patricia June Haney and husband Mitchell of Elkins, Thomas Smith and wife Nancy of Frenchville, PA, Clem E. Stewart Jr. and wife Beverly of Timbersville, VA, Joseph Stewart and former wife Kathy Zirkle of Huttonsville, Linda Kesner and husband Ricky of Maysville and Barbara Stewart of Fairmont, six grandchildren, Matthew Smith and wife Melissa, Jason Smith and companion Michelle Hammonds, Clem E. Stewart III, Travis Stewart and wife Jamerrill, Kevin Stewart and Michael Stewart and wife Kayla, nineteen great grandchildren, Trevor and Devon Hammonds, Kyleigh Smith and Kaila Channell, Ryan, Zack, Bobby, Maya, Reese, Lia, Quinton, Jadin, Zion, Naomi, Garbriel, Liam, Amelia, Natalia and Logan Stewart. Preceding Juanita in death besides her parents and husband was one brother, Clem Stewart and one sister, Betty Stewart. Juanita attended the schools of Randolph County and had worked as a Nurses Aide at Memorial General Hospital in Elkins. She thoroughly enjoyed painting and artwork. Juanita was an avid reader. Visitation will be held at the Refuge Church on Stalnaker Run Road in Gilman on Monday from 5P-8P. A funeral service will be conducted at the church on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at 11:00A. Pastors Kevin and Connie Gainer will officiate and interment will follow in Mountain State Memorial Gardens in Gilman.
