Virginia Ann Lambert Bennett, 78, a resident of Valley Head, passed from this life Friday morning, February 28, 2014 at Elkins Rehabilitation and Care Center in Elkins. Virginia was born Sunday, May 5, 1935 in Adolph, a daughter of the late Layfeyette Lambert and Daisy May Higgins Lambert. On July 7, 1953 in Baltimore, MD, she was married to Wayne Bruce Bennett, Sr., who preceded her in death during 1991. Left to cherish Virginia’s memory is her son, Wayne Bennett, Jr. and wife Sue of East Dailey, three grandchildren, Kelly Blake and husband, Rick, Nicole Herron and husband, R.J., and Garrett Bennett and companion, Ila Kerns, five great grandchildren, Hunter Blake, Lindsay Blake, Trei Davis, Bryson Herron, and Cora Herron and several nieces and nephews. Virginia was preceded in death by four sisters, Mary McCauley, Edith Fincham, Martha Lambert, and Sarah Lambert, six brothers, James Lambert, William Lambert, Junior Lambert, Hurbert Lambert, Troy Lambert and Virgil Lambert. Virginia attended the schools of Randolph County and had worked in housekeeping at Snowshoe Mountain. She enjoyed being outside and working in her yard. Visitation will be held at the Randolph Funeral Home on Monday, March 3, 2014 from 10AM until 11AM, the funeral hour. Pastor Richard Haney will officiate and interment will follow at the Valley Head Cemetery.
