Gloria Frances Niziolek Burkey, 87, a resident of Elkins, passed from this life Friday, October 17, 2014 at Elkins Rehabilitation and Care Center. Gloria was born Thursday, October 6, 1927 in Baltimore City, MD, a daughter of the late Joseph Niziolek and Emma Niziolek. She married Harold Murl Burkey who preceded her in death. Left to cherish Gloria’s memory is one son, Harold Leland Burkey of Elkins, three sisters, Wallena Dressel, Rita Pucklas and Bertha Spillman, and one brother Joseph Niziolek, all of MD, three grandchildren, Alicia Marquis and husband Eric, Lavonne Bertamini and James Bertamini and wife Dora, three great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren. Preceding Gloria in death besides her parents and husband was one daughter, Gloria Jean Thompson and one sister, Nina Benkirt. Gloria attended school in Maryland. She was an excellent mother and a dedicated homemaker. Gloria liked to watch TV and loved canning and preparing meals to freeze. She was Baptist by faith. Visitation will be held at the Randolph Funeral Home on Wednesday from 6P-8P. A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home Thursday, October 23, 2014 at 2:00PM. Rev. Rick Price will officiate and interment will follow in Mountain State Memorial Gardens in Gilman.
