Avin Thomas “Tom” Badgett Sr., 69, a resident of Elkins, passed from this life Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown. Tom was born Friday, March 2, 1945 in Elkins, a son of the late Avin Badgett and Della Virginia Weese. Left to cherish Tom’s memory is his companion, Marguerite Wyatt of Elkins, three daughters, Darlene Ritchey and husband T of TX, Crystal Scott and husband Brad, Wendy Louk, two sons, Tom Badgett Jr. and wife Norma, all of Elkins and Boyd Badgett of Kerens, four siblings, Penny Kalenak of OH, Carmen Pennington and wife Terri of Elkins, Franklin Pennington and wife Vicki of Valley Bend and Harrison Pennington of Elkins, seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Preceding Tom in death besides his parents were five brothers. Tom attended the schools of Randolph County and had been employed as a long distance truck driver for Labcraft, PGT Trucking and Cardinal Trucking. He enjoyed playing video games and woodworking. In his earlier years, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping without a tent. Tom was a Methodist by faith. Visitation will be at the Randolph Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 2, 2014 from 11AM until 1PM, the funeral hour. Pastor Dr. Kenneth P. Shiflet will officiate and interment will follow in Mountain State Memorial Gardens in Gilman.
