Juanita “June” Perry Wood, 76, a resident of Mingo, passed from this life Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown. June was born Monday, July 25, 1938 in Dunlow, a daughter of the late Rev. Samuel J. Perry and Irene Elster Perry. On November 20, 1969 in Arlington, VA, she married the love of her life, Joseph Jackson “Jack” Wood who resides in Mingo. Also left to cherish June’s memory are three siblings, David “Mike” Perry, Mildred “Millie” Smoak and Sandra “Sonnie” Ellison, several nieces and nephews, and her Pekingese, Prince Midnight. Preceding June in death besides her parents were two brothers Walter “Dick” and James “Doug” Perry. June graduated from Wayne High School and had attended Marshall University. She had been employed as a school teacher, worked for the FBI in Washington D.C. for nine years, and was the resident manager at Larcom Home in Virginia for twenty-nine years. She loved flowers, gardening, and spending time with her family. Visitation will be held at the Randolph Funeral Home on Friday from 4:30PM until 6PM. On Saturday, November 15, 2014, June will be moved to the Mingo Presbyterian Church where friends may call from 10AM until 11AM, the funeral hour. Reverend David Rice will officiate and interment will follow in the Mingo Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Mingo Presbyterian Church, HC 67, Box 17, Valley Head, WV 26294. A dinner will be provided by the church immediately following interment.
