Macie Irene Mills Tenney, age 100, of the Tallmansville community, went home to be with the Lord, January 2, 2014 at Valentine’s Assisted Living in Beverly. She was born July 2, 1913 in Kedron, WV, daughter of the late George W. and Arzeltha Osburn Mills. She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-seven years, Rev. Lloyd Tenney who died in 2003. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family having been preceded in death by her sister, Texie Mills, and her four brothers, Clemmer, Kale, Harry, and Merrit Mills. Two grandsons also preceded her in death, Chad Smallridge and Gary E. Bailey. She is survived by her six children. Bettie Tenney Bailey (Thomas) of Tallmansville, Mildred Tenney Echard (friend, Delbert Hinkle) of Beverly, Noel W. Tenney of Tallmansville, Neil W. Tenney (Precilla) of Vienna, Donnie R. Tenney (Lorelie) of Tallmansville, and Bonnie Tenney Kelley (Les) of St. Mary’s. She is also survived by five grandchildren; Bryan Bailey of Buckhannon, Rosalin Echard Arbogast of Mill Creek, Katrina Tenney Christ of Parkersburg, Stephanie Tenney Gower (Joseph) of Buckhannon, and Benjamin Borgy Tenney of Tallmansville. In addition she is survived by three great granddaughters; Leah Arbogast of Mill Creek, Sabrina and Olivia Christ of Parkersburg, along with many cousins, sisters-in-law, step grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Macie was an avid gardener and was especially known for her beautiful day lilies and iris. Many will remember how she shared flower plants with her friends. She was a faithful companion in church work with her husband for more than fifty years. She was a member of the Tallmansville Baptist Church and the Tallmansville CEOS club. Visitation will be held at the Poling St. Clair Funeral Home, Friday, January 3, 2014, 4-8pm. Funeral services will be held at the Tallmansville Baptist Church where she will lie in state from noon until 1 PM the funeral hour. Ministers in charge of the service will be Revs. Tim Lewis, Brad Tenney, Wease Day, and Billy Scott Mick. Burial will be made at the Mt. Carmel Cemetery at Tallmansville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mt. Carmel Cemetery Fund in care of Pat Strader, 44 College Ave., Buckhannon, WV 26201. Poling-st. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
