DANNY COLEMAN PHARES, age 72 years, a resident of Elkins, WV departed this life Saturday morning, April 2, 2011 at the Davis Memorial Hospital Emergency Department.
He was born Saturday, August 27, 1938 at Glady, WV a son of the late Thomas A. Phares and Fulvie May Arbogast Phares. On June 22, 1958 at Elkins, WV he was married to the former Bettie Jean Thompson, who survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Dana Cee Casper, VA; Dani Caryn Bucholtz and husband Mike, WI; Debra Caye Phares, Elkins; two brothers, Thomas A. “Abe” Phares, Glady; Franklin D. Phares, Elkins; two sisters, Juanita Roach, Glady; Patricia Hayden, VA; and four grandchildren, Brittany; Taylor; Brigette; and Victoria.
Preceding him in death are one brother, Patrick Phares; and one sister, Priscilla Kershaw.
Danny was a graduate of Elkins High School with the Class of 1957 and Davis & Elkins College with the Class of 1963. He was a veteran of the Vietnam Conflict, serving with the U. S. Navy, had worked as a supervisor for the Miller Brewing Company and a security guard for the Harley Davidson Company. He was a member of the Izaak Walton League, the H. W. Daniel’s Post # 29, American Legion and was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting and fishing.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins from 5 to 8 PM, Monday, April 11, 2011. Final Rites will be conducted at the funeral home chapel, Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at 2 PM. The Rev. A. H. Belt will officiate and interment will follow at the Mountain State Memorial Gardens at Gilman, WV.
