Robert Woodrow Williams, age 65 years, a resident of Elkins, WV passed away peacefully early Thursday morning March 31, 2011 at the Davis Memorial Hospital in Elkins.
He was born Tuesday, September 25, 1945 at Saint George, WV a son of the late Cecil R. Williams and Ada P. Swisher Williams. On December 6, 1969 at Elkins, WV he was married to the former Georgia Ann Brown, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters; Rebecca J. Williams and Cynthia N. Haupin, both of Elkins; one brother, Dorsey Williams and wife Marg, St. George; three sisters; Mable Hovatter, Thomas; Richie Nestor and husband Ralph, St. George; Thelma Williams, AL; one granddaughter, his “Pride and Joy” Syrus Jade Tenney; a brother in law, Bill Brown and wife Brenda; a sister in law, Barbara Brown; several nieces and nephews including one niece that he raised, Christina Kilgore, GA and best friends; Bill and Susie Shaw and Bill Harner.
Preceding him in death are one granddaughter; Marley Ann Haupin and a brother in law, Tom Brown.
He attended the schools of Tucker County, and was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving with the United States Army. He was a member of the H. W. Daniel’s Post # 29, American Legion, and was a life member of the National Rifle Association and the Bass Association. He had worked for the Pepsi Cola Bottling Company for thirty years and worked for Bruce Hardwood Floors for two years. He enjoyed being outdoors, and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a loving father, husband and brother. He will be greatly missed by everyone that knew him.
Mr. Williams’ request for cremation was honored. A Memorial Service will be conducted at a later date.
