BETTY LOU PHILLIPS PETRICE 1935-2011 Obituary
BETTY LOU PHILLIPS PETRICE, age 75 years, a resident of Beverly, WV departed this life Tuesday morning, April 5, 2011 at her home surrounded by family and love. She had been in declining health for the past year.
She was born Thursday, December 12, 1935 at Elkins, WV a daughter of the late Charles Phillips and Ottie Shannaburger Phillips. On February 13, 1954 at Cumberand, MD she was married to James Edward Petrice who survives at Beverly.
Also surviving are one son, Rick Petrice and wife Dolley, Asheboro, NC; two daughters, Deana Vest and husband Kenny, Junior; Jacqueline Henderson and husband Michael, Ravenna, OH; one brother, Charles “Bany” Phillips, San Antonio, TX six grandchildren, Stephanie Rasile; Lisa White; Jamey Petrice; Mark Vest; Ceara Vest and Scotty Petrice and nine great grandchildren.
Preceding her in death are one son, Mark Anthony Petrice; three brothers, Robert Phillips; Edsell “Bud” Phillips; Dale Paul Phillips; one sister, Mary Francis Wilson; and one granddaughter, Misty Petrice Penn.
Betty was a graudate of Elkins High School with the Class of 1953 and had worked for the former Reidboard Brothers and Nella’s Nursing Home. More recently her and her husband were the proprietors of the Elk River County Store at Webster Springs. She enjoyed sewing, collecting dolls, fine jewelry and spending time with her family. Her favorite pastimes were watching Court Television Shows and Nancy Grace. She was a Catholic by faith.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins from 5 to 8 PM, Friday. On Friday evening, at 7 PM, at the funeral home, a wake service will be conducted. On Saturday, April 9, 2011, Mrs. Petrice will be moved to the Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church at Coalton, where the Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM. The Very Rev. Donald X. Higgs, VF will be the presider and interment will follow at the Saint Vincent Cemetery at Kingsville, WV.
