HELEN BLANCHE PARSON RILEY, age 85 years, a resident of Beverly, WV departed this life early Wednesday morning, May 11, 2011 at the Hospice Care Regional Inpatient Center at Elkins, WV.
She was born Wednesday, December 16, 1925 at Waynesburg, PA a daughter of the late Charles and Blanche Thompson Parson. On April 17, 1955 at Waynesburg, PA she was married to Floyd F. Riley, who survives. They had celebrated fifty-six years of marriage. Also surviving are one son, Floyd F. Riley and wife Debra, Wilmington, NC; one brother, James Parson and wife Bonnie, Windridge, PA; three sisters, Dean Tharp, Cambridge, OH; Faye Morris, Windridge, PA; Nell Jones, Warren, OH; two grandchildren, Sarah Riley, Pasadena, MD; William T. Kent; and one great granddaughter, Layla Kent, both of Anchorage, AK.
Preceding her in death are four brothers, Charles, Frank, Bill and John Parson; two sisters, Doris Engle; and Nora “Sis” Caldwell.
She was a graduate of the schools of Pennsylvania, was an employee of the former Harrold’s Key Market of Elkins, and the former Wilfong’s Market of Elkins. She was an avid WVU and Pittsburgh Steeler Fan, was a noted cook and enjoyed quilting and sewing.
A Graveside Service will be held at the Woodsdale Memorial Park at Grafton, WV on Friday, May 13, 2011 at 12 Noon. The Rev. David L. Kidd, Sr. will officiate and interment will follow.
