Margaret Virginia Holbert Ferguson, age 94 years, a resident of Montrose, WV went to be with her Lord early Saturday morning May 21, 2011 at the Hospice Care Regional Inpatient Center in Elkins.
She was born Monday, September 11, 1916 at Belington, WV a daughter of the late Boyd and Effie Finley Holbert. She was married to Thomas Jasper Ferguson who preceded her in death. Surviving are seven children; Mary Schoonover, Elkins; Carolyn “Sue” Coffman and husband Charles, Montrose; Terry Ferguson and wife Dora; Lynn Ferguson and wife Linda, all of Montrose; Paula Ferguson, Elkins; Jack Ferguson and wife Betty, Montrose; Starlet Levy and husband Neil, OH; eighteen grandchildren; twenty-seven great grandchildren and thirteen great great grandchildren.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Preceding her in death are three brothers; Bucky, Paul and Edward Holbert; one infant brother; two sisters; Irene Corley and Wanda Johnson; two grandchildren and one great grandson.
She was a graduate of Barbour County Schools, was a homemaker and later worked as the head cook at the IOOF Home and as a tutor for the Foster Grandparents Program at the WV Children’s Home which she especially enjoyed. Her hobbies included painting, needlepoint, bird watching, and star gazing at night when she wanted to relax as well as playing her piano.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins from 5 to 8 PM, Tuesday. Final Rites will be conducted at the funeral home chapel, Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at 1:30 PM. The Rev. Mike House and the Rev. David Collins will officiate and interment will follow at the Mountain State Memorial Gardens at Gilman, WV.
