NORMA LEE MURRAY REED, age 81 years, a resident of Elkins, WV departed this life Wednesday evening, June 15, 2011 at the Ruby Memorial Hospital at Morgantown, WV.
She was born Tuesday, February 25, 1930 at Belington, WV a daughter of the late Theodore J. and Blanche Price Murray. On April 29, 1950 at Belington, WV she was married to Herman Kenneth “Kenny” Reed, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Murray K. Reed and wife Sherry, Elkins; and V. Kevin Reed and wife Karen, Moorefield; four grandchildren, Lauren Walls; Andrew, Korey and Karson Reed and one great granddaughter, Ava Reed.
Norma was a graduate and Co – Valedictorian of Belington High School with the Class of 1948. She had worked as a Secretary / Administrative Assistant for Keith Cunningham, Attorney at Law, the Memorial General Hospital for many years, Family Health Service and Youth Health Service. She was a member of the Memorial General Hospital Ladies Auxiliary and had worked on various formal dance committees and had served on the decorations committee for the Queens Ball and the Distinguished Guest Dinner for the Mountain State Forest Festival. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and Circle 2 of the church.
Graveside Services will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, June 18, 2011 at the Mountain State Memorial Gardens at Gilman, WV. The Rev. Dr. Basil A. Hensley will officiate and interment will follow. The family suggests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of contributions to the First United Methodist Church, 315 Kerens Avenue, Elkins, WV 26241.
